      BROWN, Vernon Franklin (Vern)
      March, 6, 1928 ? Crawford Park, Manitoba
      May, 30, 2016 ? Calgary, Alberta
Vernon Franklin Brown, beloved husband of Madeline of Calgary, passed away on May 30, 2016 at the age of 88 years. Vern was born in Crawford Park, Manitoba in 1928. In 1955 he married Madeline Moyer. They were married for 60 years and blessed with six children. In April 1956, Vern enlisted in the Canadian Armed Forces, proudly serving his country in many capacities until his honorable discharge in 1976. He inspired his family with his strong work ethic and guided us all with a caring compassionate hand. During retirement, Vern and Madeline explored North America in their RV's, touching down in almost every corner of Canada and the USA. They made many friends during their travels and created a fantastic array of photos, post cards and souvenirs from their adventures which we all still share and enjoy today. Vern was a good man, a straight shooter, salt of the earth fellow, with a spicy tongue and temper. Vern loved life, delighted to hear of other's adventures, and was quick with a hug. His love of animals, especially horses, gave him great joy. We all loved him very much. Vern is survived by his wife Madeline; six children Debra (Allan), Elaine (Hans), Clarence, Douglas (Sherri), Patricia (Eric), Wesley (Joanne); 11 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. A heartfelt thank you to the staff of Southwood Hospice for your unparalleled compassionate care of our family during "Grandpa's" final days. You are all angels among us. Please join Vern's family for an informal gathering in the reception hall at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY (Fish Creek, 14441 Bannister Road S.E.) on Friday, June 3, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. Forward condolences through www.mcinnisandholloway.com. If desired, in lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, the Kidney Foundation, or the Cancer Society. In living memory of Vern Brown, a tree will be planted at Fish Creek Provincial Park.
