- Obituary for Sylvester Augustine Moyer
MOYER: Sylvester Augustine Moyer of Brandon, Manitoba passed away on Monday February 17, 2014 at Brandon Regional Health Centre. Syl was born on April 12th, 1931, the second oldest of 15 children. As a young boy, his family moved to several farms before settling in Onanole. He bought his first 3-ton gravel truck at age 21. He met the love of his life, Dorothy, at a country-dance. They were married on June 18th, 1955. They were blessed with nine children. Syl is survived by his loving wife, Dorothy, of 58 years; his children: son David (Isabella), grandson Luke (Amber), great grandchildren Victoria and Beckett, granddaughter Claire (Brian), granddaughter Anna (Jason), grandson Benedict, granddaughter Grace; son Wayne (Sandra), grandchildren Rayna (Kevin), great grandsons Ethan and Crew, granddaughter Chanlie (Brendan); son Gary; daughter Debbie (Davie), grandsons Cory and Christopher; daughter Linda (Wayne), grandchildren Mark and Brittany; son Blaine; son Blaire, granddaughter Brianna; daughter Maureen (Chris), grandsons Kaden and Jared. Syl was predeceased by son Gregory, his parents (Christine and August Moyer), mother and father in-law Anna and Bill Kirkpatrick, brothers Andrew and Roger. They lived in Stonewall, Manitoba, Brandon, Manitoba, and then moved to the farm in the Roseland District where they resided for 36 years. He farmed and Bartended as a second job where he made many friends. They retired in 2000 and moved back to Brandon. He enjoyed reading and fiddle music. He was a man of strong faith and loved all the family gatherings. The Moyer door was always open. Cremation has taken place and Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Augustine?s Roman Catholic Church, 327-4th Street, on Tuesday, February 25, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Syl may be made to the St. Vincent de Paul Society, c/o St. Augustine?s Church, 327-4th Street, Brandon, MB, R7A 3H1.
