"Mark Clasen Named FP Chair. Following a nationwide search, Mark E. Clasen, M.D., Ph.D., was selected to succeed Dr. Gillen, and he arrived at Wright State on November 1. Dr. Clasen has been vice chair of family practice and community medicine at the University of Texas Health Science Center in Houston since 1987. He has also been chief of the family medicine service at L.B.J. General Hospital in Houston. He is a graduate of the University of Mississippi School of Medicine, where he also completed graduate studies in human anatomy and residency training in family practice. He is Fellow of the American College of Physician Executives. Dr. Clasen has received numerous honors for excellence in teaching students and residents, development of research programs, and service to the community at the Ohio State University College of Medicine, the University of Kansas School of Medicine and the University of Texas Health Center at Houston. Dr. Clasen currently serves on the Society of Teachers of Family Medicine's Task Force on Universal Health Care, the United States Pharmacopoeia Convention's Advisory Panel on Family Practice and the National Conference on Health Care Access. He is an invited consultant to other medical schools for program development."
