- Anne Jane Day and Robert Chassel Nolton were married in 1876 in Rome, NY and in 1884 they accompanied Anna's parents in a move from New York to Minnesota. Anna and Robert and their 3 children, Charles, Mary and Clara, travelled by train to Hammond, MN where they stayed with Anna's parents two weeks before moving to the Granite Falls community. They rented a farm from D.A. McLarty for six years before they bought their own farm adjacent to the McLarty farm. They remained on the farm until their deaths.
