Notes |
- Moses was born on his father's farm near Ashley Pond, now in the limits of the city of Holyoke, MA. When a young man, he was adopted by his uncle Aaron Ashley, and came to live with him on his farm near the Connecticut River in Ashleyville in West Springfield. At his uncle's death he inherited his farm and lived there the rest of his life. He was captain of the local militia company. He united with the First Congregational Church in 1816, his first wife in 1795, and his second wife in 1815.
