Mrs. Joyce Horn aged 70 years of Shaunavon , Saskatchewan died on Wednesday, March 15, 2006 at the Foothills Hospital in Calgary , Alberta with her family by her side.
Joyce Rosa Catherine Fritz was born January 13, 1936 in Shaunavon , Saskatchewan . She attended Thompson Valley and Shaunavon Schools . Joyce married Vern Horn at Shaunavon on November 28, 1957 and together they farmed north of Shaunavon until her passing. She took over the mother role when her mother passed away and has been the backbone of her family. Joyce loved being surrounded by family. She was a terrific cook and baker and loved to entertain. She led the 4H Club for many years and received the Governor General?s Award for her contribution to the community. Farming and gardening were her life.
She was predeceased by her mother Mary Fritz on August 21, 1956, her father Clarence Fritz on August 3, 1984 and two sisters, Betty Ann Osiowy and Ethel O?Toole.
Joyce is survived by her husband Vern, her son David (Linda) of Shaunavon, two grandchildren, Jennifer (Nathan) of Edmonton and Evan (Jessie) of Shaunavon, one brother Gerald Fritz (Debbie) of Shaunavon and one sister Marcella Tremere (Arnold) of Medicine Hat, as well as by numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral Services were held from Christ the King R. C. Church in Shaunavon on Monday, March 20, 2006 at 1:00 p.m. with Reverend Father Joseph Infanté officiating. Jennifer Horn and Evan Horn were urn bearers. Sheila Bredahl presented the eulogy and Michelle Holden gave a tribute. Bag Pipes were played by Alex Oliver. Interment of the cremated remains followed at Hillcrest Cemetery at Shaunavon. Binkley's Funeral Service of Shaunavon (www.Binkleys.com) was in charge of the arrangements.
