Notes |
- Samuel was a Surgeon in the Continental Army. Records reveal he was captured in Colonel Webb's expedition to Long Island in 1777 and imprisoned on the ship Jersey. While imprisoned on the ship Dr Whiting worked tirelessly on the prisoners and after the war received a vote of thanks from Congress. [1]
