    • KROEPLIN, John ?Jack? Patrick
      We are saddened to announce the passing of Jack on February 19th following a brief battle with cancer. Jack was born in Walkerton, Ontario on June 10, 1933. At the age of 19 he enlisted in the Royal Canadian Air Force where he was trained as a fire fighter. After 27 years of service on bases in both Canada and Europe, Jack attained the rank of Chief Warrant Officer. Following his retirement from the Armed Forces Jack worked as a public servant with the Department of National Defence in Ottawa.
      Jack was committed to elevating the quality of minor hockey in Canada and worked with the Canadian Amateur Hockey Association to develop standardized coaching manuals for minor hockey coaches. Throughout his life he was passionate about sports and himself played softball, volleyball and hockey. In his later years Jack enjoyed bowling, golf, and dance. He was an active member in his local legion, organized and played in a volleyball league and was quick to lend a helping hand to his friends and neighbours.
      Jack is survived by his four children, Jackie, Randy (Hilary), Carol (Chris Uherek) and Brian. He will be lovingly remembered by his four grandchildren, Ryan and Sean Uherek and Emily and Hannah Kroeplin. Jack was the eldest of 10 children, he will be dearly missed by his siblings Jean (Schnurr), Agnes (Beresford), Eileen (Touchette), Blanche, Louise (Blaskevitch), Carl (Barb), Ralph (Marlene), Ken (Sharon) and Joanne (Jim Brick). Jack will also be dearly missed by his loving partner Mary Ellen Cantin. Jack was predeceased by his parents Wilfred and Hilda and his brothers in law Robert Schnurr, William Beresford and Claude Touchette.
      Family will be available to greet visitors from 10:00 am until time of the Funeral Mass at 11:00 am on Tuesday February 25th, 2014 at the Divine Infant Parish, 6658 Bilberry Drive, Orleans, Ontario. The Family would like to thank the doctors and nurses of the Ottawa General Hospital for their exceptional care and compassion.
