- Giles Ward had several occupations. He taught school in the same one-room school house which he had attended. His future wife was one of his pupils. He was one of the first mail carriers in the town of Eagle. It was after he accidentally turned over the sleigh on a winter's day, that he decided that there must be a better way to make a living. Within the year, he brought his family to Greece and took on the job of Customs Inspector at the port of Charlotte.
