Jean Lois Borden (Bungarden), beloved mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away on October 9, 2024, at 92. Born on March 11, 1932, in St. Paul, Minnesota, Jean lived a full and long life.
Jean graduated from Central High in St. Paul and then became a Stewardess for Northwest Airlines (NWA). There she met her husband, Jim, and they married in 1955. She raised her family in Burnsville, Minnesota, where she was known for her volunteerism. She was the local "Welcome Wagon" lady and chaired several charity luncheons. A passionate card player, Jean especially loved playing bridge, gathering monthly with the neighborhood bridge ladies. She continued her love of cards and travel all throughout her life.
After a divorce, Jean moved to Arizona in 1984 without ever having visited and never regretted the decision. She settled in southern Scottsdale and embraced the sunshine and vibrant community life. There she explored the state and the local casinos. She fully adopted the southwest lifestyle, and it was reflected in all her décor.
At age 89, she returned to Minnesota to be near her daughter, extended family, and longtime dear friends.
Jean is survived by her children, Brian (Jaci) of Colorado Springs, CO, Lynn (Mike Stein) of Minneapolis, MN, Kelly (Heather) of Wadsworth, OH, and Kevin (Caroline) of Piedmont, SC, along with seven grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her former husband Jim, son Lee, and granddaughter Kalila.
Jean donated her body to the University of Minnesota Anatomy Bequest Program. No memorial services are planned. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Jean's memory can be made to the American Lung Association, or to the Minnesota Masonic Home, where she enjoyed her last few years. Jean will be remembered as being very independent, persistent, and frugal. She will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by all who know her. |
