- OBITUARY: Joyce's children family sadly announces the passing of their mother on March 17, 2003 at Red Deer Regional Hospital, the result of a stroke the previous Thursday. Born near Coronach, SK. on July 28, 1921 as the youngest child of 8. Joyce had 6 sisters and 1 brother. Nylene Welsh, Brampton, ON, is Joyce's only surviving sibling. Joyce is also survived by her 4 children, Keith (Linda) of Red Deer, Karen Coutts of Calgary. Arlyn (Johanne) and Lynn (Anne) of Red Deer. There are 7 grand-children and 4 grgrandchildren. Joyce married Aubrey Raymond Sorsdahl of Coronach in 1943 where they took over the family farm. Due to Aubrey's health concerns the entire family moved to Red Deer, AB in 1961. During the school year of 1964, our family moved to Erskine, AB. Joyce ran the cafe and Aubrey operated the Royalite station. The family returned to Red Deer in 1965. Joyce worked for the Eaton's store at both locations and spent many hours with her hobbies of curling, bowling, golf and lawn bowling. As a member of Gaetz United church, she enjoyed helping others. Family gatherings were always a priority and a joy for her. Joyce requested that donations, in lieu of flowers be given to either the Stroke Fund or Cancer Fund. Funeral Services will be held on Monday March 24 at Gaetz United Church at 1:00pm., with Internment preceding the service at the Alto Reste Cemetary.
