- A newspaper article published in November 1938 (Tribune), commenting on Betsy's upcoming 100th birthday is partly reproduced as follows: "Mrs. Betsy Day to be 100 on November 16. Mrs. Betsy Day lives with her daughter, Mrs. Robert Nolton. Mrs. Day was born in Rome, NY of Yankee parents. Her life has always been associated with farming. After marrying Dwight Henry Day, a young farmer of Rome, NY, they came west with the family. In 1884 they travelled by train to Hammond, Minnesota where Mr. Day bought a farm of 80 acres. Accompanying them were their daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Nolton and their family. After the death of Mr. Day, Mrs. Day spent her time with her children and other relatives. Funeral services were conducted at the South Troy church with Rev. L.R. Fletcher and Rev. C. Van Zee officiating with internment in the Pleasant Prairie cemetery.
