  • Notes 
    • He was bred a surgeon, but was almost wholly unknown in later years for that skill. Became a Representative 1685, and was forthwith chosen speaker, and next year Assistant. By the new Charter the King under dictation of Increase Mather, made him of the Council and the Secretary, in which offices he many years was continued. Was appointed Judge of the highest Court 1702 and its Chief next year. [2]
